I love getting into new series and finding great books, especially ones that I can share with my students. This summer hasn&#8217;t left a lot of time for that.<\/p>\n<p>What I have read:<\/p>\n<p>I had a Rick Riordan kick at the end of the year (since we read <em>The Lightening Thief <\/em>for a fun unit to end the school year). This kick included:<\/p>\n<p><em>-The Red Pyramid<\/em> (first time to read)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/red-pyramid.JPG\" title=\"The Red Pyramid\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7aeb8b93310654191816bec8ffca6e4c.jpg\" alt=\"The Red Pyramid\" imagescaler=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7aeb8b93310654191816bec8ffca6e4c.jpg\" height=\"128\" width=\"84\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>-The Throne of Fire<\/em> (book AFTER <em>Red Pyramid<\/em>, first time for me to read)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/throneoffire.jpg\" title=\"Throne of Fire\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/be70e3c3eb65b4e67ed113787c9cb226.jpg\" alt=\"Throne of Fire\" imagescaler=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/be70e3c3eb65b4e67ed113787c9cb226.jpg\" height=\"128\" width=\"84\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>-Percy Jackson and the Olympians<\/em> books 2-5 (I have read these&#8230;well, more than once or twice each!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/percyjacksonolympians.jpg\" title=\"Percy Jackson and the Olympians\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7f7f946b28929fca740a26a6d592f0e7.jpg\" alt=\"Percy Jackson and the Olympians\" imagescaler=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7f7f946b28929fca740a26a6d592f0e7.jpg\" height=\"75\" width=\"128\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>-Then I have been itching to re-read the <em>Fablehaven<\/em> series, which I&#8217;ve gotten maybe 40 pgs into&#8230;(But it&#8217;s great. Like, if you are missing you some <em>Harry Potter<\/em>, this can almost fill the void in your life.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/fablehaven.jpg\" title=\"Fablehaven\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/f39cdf1427eae7d53c5d97f8756725ee.jpg\" alt=\"Fablehaven\" imagescaler=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/f39cdf1427eae7d53c5d97f8756725ee.jpg\" height=\"128\" width=\"86\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had the chance to sample a few new books:<\/p>\n<p><em>Write Beside Them <\/em>(For CTWP, so not necessarily for fun, but still good)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/writebesidethem.jpg\" title=\"Write Beside Them\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/be35a039d36e30a735293785cfbbd2c0.jpg\" alt=\"Write Beside Them\" imagescaler=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/be35a039d36e30a735293785cfbbd2c0.jpg\" height=\"128\" width=\"102\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>The Help<\/em> (First time to read, totally recommend it)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/the-help.jpg\" title=\"The Help\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/2976e7054602936aca4839ce71b495ad.jpg\" alt=\"The Help\" imagescaler=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/2976e7054602936aca4839ce71b495ad.jpg\" height=\"128\" width=\"84\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I still want to read but haven&#8217;t been able to get myself started on for whatever reason:<\/p>\n<p><em>The Maze Runner<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/mazerunner.jpg\" title=\"The Maze Runner\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/63a0970f96b9f2fbc790dbbee930614f.jpg\" alt=\"The Maze Runner\" imagescaler=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/63a0970f96b9f2fbc790dbbee930614f.jpg\" height=\"128\" width=\"88\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>The Lost Hero <\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/losther.jpg\" title=\"Lost Hero\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7ee3279c1df3768eb6de8c5ded987f6f.jpg\" alt=\"Lost Hero\" imagescaler=\"http:\/\/www.elisabethboothe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7ee3279c1df3768eb6de8c5ded987f6f.jpg\" height=\"128\" width=\"84\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And now, I realize, I have TWO WEEKS before I officially go back to the school year. And the best parts of my summers are being able to read new, fun books. And I don&#8217;t even know what I am looking for.<\/p>\n<p>So that leads me to the question: <strong>Anybody have some good reads recently? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I want to celebrate the end of the summer in a good way. My niche is definitely fantasy and sci-fi, but as shown by my love for <em>The Help<\/em>, I am capable of falling in love with books other than that genre!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This summer I have disappointed my goals of reading.
